"We were dancing everywhere. We’d be on breaks between filming, we were doing them. I remember there was a trip out to go see a band and we all went back to Emma’s house in London for a bit and we waltzed in her kitchen, just doing the dancing. Just practicing." - Matt Lewis

A Fair Day.
So I started this story forever ago as part of a collaboration with cookiecutter60 but it took me a long time to finish. It has Doctor Who along with her perfect and adorable OC, Bohiel. Search the Bohiel tag to see her beautiful art and follow her because she’s perfect and extremely talented!
Bohiel was reading in Evan’s bookstore one morning while Evan was making himself a cup of coffee when Evan broke the easy morning silence.
He said, “how about we go to the fair today?”
Bohiel had never been to a fair, of course he knew what it was. All of the games and rides, but he had yet to experience it. He figured it was worth a shot and as always, he trusted Evan to lead him in the right direction. He nodded and they both went into motion.
They changed into clothes that would be light enough to battle the summer heat and left the bookstore. Since Evan’s bookstore was in the middle of the town they decided they would just walk the short distance to the fair that was in town. Evan loved to chat when he walked anywhere so he decided the fair was the best topic,
“what do you want to do first?”, he asked.
“well… to be honest, I don’t really know. I’ve never been to a fair”, Bohiel replied hesitantly. Evan stopped mid-step and turned to Bohiel. With his mouth agape, He gave a quick and loud laugh.
Smiling he said, “this is going to be great! I know just where to start”. When he began walking again his pace was quicker and perceptively more excited.
When they arrived at the fair it the air felt light and the atmosphere was one of happiness. Bohiel could sense the joy, excitement, and sense of community at this event. They lined up at the entrance gate and waited their turn to enter. Evan bought them both passes that would get them onto every ride, he wanted Bohiel to experience every bit of excitement that the fair had to offer.
Once inside Evan gave Bohiel the game-plan. They would start with rides, followed by lunch, then play some of the carnival games, and finish the day with a ride on the Ferris wheel. The first ride they rode on was a rickety metal contraption that had to small, enclosed carts at either end of a long metal arm. The ride started off like a pendulum but then soon swung them up and over the arm. Bohiel felt his stomach rise upwards and he felt unexplainably giddy. He and Evan laughed uncontrollably during the rest of the ride and throughout the rest of the twisting, spinning, and mildly terrifying rides they rode. After waiting in line and going on ride after ride they were definitely ready for lunch, just as Evan had predicted.
“Whatever you get to eat you have to get some fresh lemonade to drink with it”, Evan advised Bohiel.
“I’ve had lemonade before”, retorted Bohiel
“You’ve never had fair lemonade, it’s completely different”, Evan said while laughing.
They walked off to explore the different booths that all promised some deep-fried “delicacy”, and to get some lemonade. The young girl at the lemonade booth was about to hand Bohiel his drink when he and Evan heard screams nearby. They both ran towards the scream and soon they found a tall man and a blonde girl standing side by side while the man pointed what seemed like some kind of flashlight at the ground. The man was tall with messy brown hair and he wore blue suit with a long coat, and high top sneakers that didn’t go with the ensemble. The girl was shorter and had medium length blonde hair; she wore jeans and a t-shirt.
“Just missed him”, the tall man said with an English accent. The blonde lady looked really disappointed and they both turned to walk away. It was Evan who stopped them.
“Missed who? And why are you using a flashlight in the middle of the afternoon?” he asked.
“Oh… erm…” the man trailed off.
“Well it’s a bit of a strange thing really…” the girl replied, she also was clearly from somewhere in the UK.
Evan replied, “well we’ve got time right Bohiel?”
Bohiel spoke for the first time, “sure… I guess”
The girl spoke for the two strangers, “I’m Rose Tyler, and he’s The Doctor, we were searching for this uhmm… thing”.
“Wait. The Doctor isn’t a name… Doctor Who?” asked Bohiel.
“Nope just the Doctor”, the man obviously called The Doctor replied.
“Well what was the… thing you are looking for?” Asked evan.
“It’s… a bit of a creature really”, Rose replied, hesitantly.
The questioning look on both Bohiel and Evans’ faces spoke for them and the Doctor continued to explain rather quickly. “It’s a droid, well, a clockwork droid to be specific. They have a nasty habit of traveling through time to look for…spare parts”
“Well what do you mean, spare parts, and why would shining a flashlight at them make them go
Rose looked hesitant to answer so the Doctor spoke instead, “well they believe certain human brains have the potential to power their ship so they can return home. And this is not a flashlight”, he said holding up the device. “It’s a sonic screwdriver and if I can find their time window they’re using to get back and forth to their ship then I can shut it down and he will also shut down. We’ve dealt with them before I guess this one escaped on his own and made his way here.
Bohiel spoke up again, “Well what can we do to help”.
The Doctor looked hesitant but Rose piped up, “well we’re looking for something simple that would easily go unnoticed where the droid can go in and out quickly”.
Evan looked up and started speaking quickly, “I have an Idea! I think it might be in the funhouse!” seeing Bohiel’s confusion he continued, “It’s a huge maze full of mirrors and lights that make you look funny and confuse you. But there’s one mirror that’s normal and it’s really huge and fancy. I bet that’s what he’s using!
“Well what’re we waiting for?!” The Doctor exclaimed.
They all followed Evan as he led the way to the funhouse. Once inside they stuck close to each other and made their way through to maze towards the end of the room. Luckily Evan knew the funhouse well since his parents used to bring him to this fair every summer and he always loved the funhouse. They were almost to the mirror when the droid stepped out from behind a mirror that made them all look ghoulishly tall and thin. The clockwork droid started to walk towards them at a menacingly slow pace. Bohiel jumped out behind the group, clearly trying to make a distraction.
“Hey over here gears for brains!” he shouted. Apparently the enticement worked and the droid started towards him, giving Rose and the Doctor the advantage they needed to get to the mirror. Once at the mirror he pointed his sonic screwdriver towards it. While it made a strange noise Evan watched the two events occurring, hoping he was correct and that was the portal. The creature continued to pursue Bohiel but soon Bohiel had nowhere to go in the cramped room of mirrors. He backed up against a strange mirror that made the viewer look wavy and disfigured. Apparently this proved to be an even better distraction. The droid tilted his head and froze, looking at his own reflection. Just as the droid’s ‘eyes’ flicked up towards Bohiel the Doctor yelled, “Brilliant!” and the droid shut down.
The Doctor and Rose ran over to Bohiel and Evan where they were standing and the Doctor said, “You two are just brilliant! Oh you’d make some great companions one day!”
They all laughed and Bohiel said, “Maybe one day but I really want to go on the Ferris wheel now”.
Evan nodded and said “do you want to join us?”
Rose looked up at the Doctor with big eyes saying, “Please Doctor, I haven’t been on a Ferris Wheel since I was a little Girl!”
The Doctor laughed and said “only if you’re buying chips afterwards”.
The odd group walked towards the ride and climbed into a big circular cart. Evan pointed them all to the side where they could see the moon and the stars high above the trees and a lake. It really was perfect and they all laughed and smiled the whole time. Evan and Bohiel knew it was unlikely they’d ever see the pair of travelers again but it was worth the adventure. At the very top of the Ferris wheel while looking out over the horizon Bohiel simply said, “That’s not exactly what I expected to happen at the fair”.
